How Does it Work?
First, you need help. Help doesn’t just mean thinking about ending your own life. It’s any painful emotion and anytime you need support. So, you text us at (205)538-2335.
Your opening message can say anything. Keywords like “HOME,” “START” and “HELLO”
You will be connected with someone who can provide support, but not medical advice.
The support helper will introduce themselves, reflect on what you've said, and invite you to share at your own pace.
You'll then text back and forth with the support helper. You never have to share anything you don't want to.
The Text Hotline will help you sort through your feelings by asking, empathizing, and actively listening.
The conversation typically ends when you and the hotline helper both feel comfortable deciding that you're in a cool, safe place.
The goal of any conversation is to get you to a calm, safe place.
We may not be able to help with all Hotline texts, but we will definitely do our best.
If we are unable to help you, we will connect you only with your permission from another source.
This Text Hotline is to allow the young Generation an outlet to express themselves. So many often have no one they can talk with, listen to, or trust with how they feel. We want to build a relationship of faith to help reach more teens in our city to let them know they are NOT alone.
